The only questions was “How did the Law Enforcement get involved?” They were suspecting the Bank must had tipped them off, or the red-flag in the ACH (Automated Clearing House Network) because of a large deposit of funds.
Once it was filed, Ned heard the Supervisor stating “Give this to the Sheriff immediately, and fax this one over to xxxxx (name unclear) immediately.” Several employees there were glaring at them, and now there were Cops all around. They went into the vehicle and departed.
Once inside the garage, and door was closed. The Lawyer then stated, he was going to call his colleague, because he wants to file a lawsuit immediately on Monday, and he went around the property taking videos and photos (even though his wife was starting to “clean up” the mess they made and Jon told her to “stop”).

He pulled out his laptop, told them to at least get some sleep, both were very drained. His partner arrived, and they were asleep for a little bit. Jon did have wireless cameras placed on their front windows and rear windows facing the doors and outwards. They were gathering everything and got everything set up, when Ned’s wife decided to go to the bathroom and saw another guy in the house and shrieked, which woke Ned up!

While Ned was in jail, they didn’t put him into a cell, much less didn’t appreciate his wife hiring this nasty lawyer. Jon realized they were being followed, there was another car he recognized that was undercover (he had seen this car before). Ned was surprised to see he had this “high tech” gadget that allowed him to zoom on the driver parked nearby their home! All Jon said was “Cop! 100% Cop!”
Out of the middle of nowhere the State AFT and County Swat team busted through their home. Held them up at gun point, already ransacked and literally destroyed their new stuff they had bought for the house! They detained Ned and kept his wife in the bedroom.
More information was gathered, and they advised them to sell their home and move away quickly! Why? Both lawyers felt their lives would be in danger, they made the recommendations that they go to a short term apartment or motel in another County and out of their jurisdiction. Jon asked them for permission if he could remain there until his colleague arrives in a couple of hours. He didn’t feel they were safe to leave due to them being Senior Citizens, and both weren’t really in the “greatest” shape, after all, he also took photos of bruises that were by those Officers, including the cut above Ned’s forehead when they threw him out of bed and he hit the corner of a furniture.

He also noticed that the cameras were all pointing to them!
The County finally settled under the table - hush fund, for $1 million (because it was their officers that caused injuries and refusal to provide warrant or bothered to investigate whether or not the “large transaction” was truly “questionable”), however, they wouldn’t sign the “protection” from harassment and retaliation.
On the 4th day, both lawyers showed up. Good news? The County wants to settle, but he’s advising them to stand firm at his offer that he’s proposed, the County was generating a “hush” fund with a NDA (Non-Disclosure Act). The State was generating a general fund settlement, which he told them to take it because they were very hard to negotiate. That amount was $500,000.00. (The State later made an amendment to reduce that amount of settlements.)

His wife was a bit paranoid with all those cameras (they are on 24–7 even if power outage, there’s a backup system). They have a “small warehouse”, where they can park their car. However, if they leave, they are required to alert the office. There was a full size gym and a lovely pool!
Jon then phoned his wife after he found out they have a garage door opener, to open the garage door and he was going to drive in and immediately shut the garage door once they were inside. (It was a 2 car oversized garage, they had only bought one car and was looking to possibility buy another vehicle shortly.)
Once they arrived on the drive way there were 2 cop cars parked across the street and over. There’s not much they could do there. You could see them standing on the sidewalk talking and observing their home.
The State Officer arrived in and said “Ned was free to go, but they needed him to sign paperwork, and asked JON to step outside.” Jon grilled him, and demanded that he and his client to depart, no paperwork was necessary. After about 10 minutes of bickering back and forth.
They crossed over the State Lines, no law enforcement officer even followed them, went to a “Mom and Pop” Motel which had restaurant and all. The Colleague told both of them that many “witnesses” were kept there for protection. He personally knew the folks. When they saw him, they suspected these 2 people were witnesses, and began to chit chat, they had a special room. Ned was slightly amused when the Owner’s Wife said “Are any of them on dietary restrictions?” Ned and his wife were a little bit shocked to find out they are served three meals a day, full room service!
Can one sue the State and Local Law Enforcement agencies? Yes you can, there’s tort immunity. His partner found a loop hole in the State law which gave him a big leeway to filing a lawsuit against BOTH Agencies! (Since both were involved.)
The lawyer had him to call his wife to move her car so they can go inside of the garage, he felt they were being followed. Once near a intersection, a Semi Truck cut the SUV that was following them off and he took a “short cut” through the neighborhood (he turned instead of going straight) which plants gave them “protection”.
His Colleague did some research on “large deposits”, only found this “questionable large deposits should be reported to agencies.” Well, their deposit wasn’t “questionable”, Jon wasn’t sure if the “Bank” tipped them off or if it was “automatically tipped off”.
They hired someone to make the property look presentable to sell quickly. The property was sold to the highest bidder. They then went to another State and bought a property there. As for that particular bank, they closed off all their accounts, except their CD’s, closed it off once the maturity date manifested.

It was under the advice of his Colleague partner to hire a “armed security officer” (because that man is still there in the unmarked vehicle and they noticed an increase of Cop cars going through the neighborhood.) His colleague had rapport with several Security Officer Systems, and an armed Company Officer was assigned to post. They were hoping that their presence for a couple of days would scare off the Cops. (Yeah it worked.)
Investigator walked in, and acted “surprised” (the regular camera was now turned back on to be recorded) and Jon noticed that red light was now activated. Jon then ordered him out because his 10 minutes with his client wasn’t used up (he always carried a digital stop watch and a regular stop watch). The Investigator then stated “We haven’t pressed any charges, we are trying to get information. It is “OUR” responsibility to find out what large transactions….”
Ned told me the next three days they were having a blast! He swears the Owner’s wife was trying to fatten them up and constantly told them they were “all bones with no meat on them!” Ned also said “Her cooking! Man! Her cooking! It was so good and made from scratch!” He could see that the owners were “well fed” and it showed! They had lots of regulars and travelers who stopped at their small restaurant, it was always full!
He asked him “Do you remember who you sold it to?” He stated “Yes, and the title went to (name of person) and he provided a bank cashier’s check, which he validated it before they handed the title over to make sure it was valid at this xxx Bank, where they opened multiple local bank accounts. Later moved the money towards the purchase of the property they had just bought with a “small mortgage” so that it would permit them to become established and they would pay the mortgage off within the year or two.”
Jon then asked if they had any firearms? Ned said they did, but he put it up in the attic temporarily until the safe came in. Jon told him to go up and get it, and he documented all his firearms: Cross bow (serial number and bolts), 2 Hunting rifle (serial numbers) and their ammunition. 3 Handguns - serial numbers and ammunition. A couple of Large Hunting knives, and a pair of Compound Bows with Fishing attachments (legal in a lot of states). He also took photos of his federal license which he was Class 01 and Class 03 which made him rock solid, plus the original documentations that confirms. He also had a various state licenses for “concealed” weapon permits or identification cards.
Jon then told Ned to get up, and they proceeded to the door. They had Cops all lined up, and Jon then told Ned to get in his car and he was taking him home. He also had cameras in his car (front, side, rear) all activated. Jon informed Ned that he began using this video/audio camera recording after the last incident several years ago with another client he was asked to represent, and as soon as he dropped his client off, they swarmed in and arrested his client right after he left! He suspected he was being followed (undercover and their vehicles).

Jon, he then demanded that his client to be released or be arrested, immediately. The Investigator stated “I am not the person who’s authorized to release anyone.” And he left the office in which Ned thinks it was about 2–3 minutes because Jon wrote him a note “Be silent, in recording”. No further discussions were ongoing.
The change of address went to his colleague’s PO Box. They packed their suitcases (Ned said they didn’t have much so that was a good thing), and Ned was instructed to follow Jon and the colleague would follow them. He estimated it would be about an hour drive or so. His colleague’s secretary brought in a bunch of security cameras which were all strategically placed inside and outside of the property. The Security Guard would remain in place for 2 more days, they were instructed to inform anyone “occupants are not available” and if any warrant was issued to alert both (lawyers) immediately.

He answered and stated “my wife has it in the safe deposit box”, a photocopy of the title, the bill of sale notarized documents for the IRS filing, we still have the registration plate which will be expired in 3 months which we are returning that to the (State) where he originally purchased and resided before we headed on a 5 year tour, to possibility receive a small “refund” if any.”

Ned asked them for the warrant and why they busted their brand new home down? They wouldn’t answer, and he refused to answer unless he had his lawyer present. All he would say was “WE JUST BROUGHT THIS HOUSE!”. He was taken to jail, but they left his wife behind and immediately his wife called several Lawyers.
Ned told me that once his wife arrived, the guy recognized her and greeted her, she told him what she wanted done. Never asked who the guy was that was with her, went along with it. Jon pretended to be “paranoid” asking a bunch of questions, “I’m interested in this bank, but what if I put $150,000.00 to a CD because their interest rate was very good.” The Branch Manager came in and introduced himself, and tried to calm his fears about opening a CD account with them. Ned said his wife stated he did a great job of “acting” super paranoid. Stating stuff such as “I don’t want Commies to know I put my money here.” They assured him the transaction would go smoothly. He went so far to state “150,000.00 is a lot of MY MONEY, and I don’t want no government knowing where I put it.” At least they gained ample enough information that the bank didn’t tip the transaction.
Jon and his wife were going back to the bank, he told his wife to “state that was a family friend” if he was asked who he was. Jon suggested that they open another savings account for the minimal amount required to open, since that particular bank was offering $250 to open a savings account. Minimum requirement was 3 months, he then said she can go back and close it and move the money over to their other accounts since they would get a small interest plus $250 bonus.
